Anchor text to root domain

Say I link to www.widgets.com and the anchor text for the link is "blue widgets".

Now www.widgets.com/blue-widgets.html is a page about blue widgets, targetting blue widgets. Does this page get any bonus for anchor text?

Linking back to the home page with keyword rich text in the link does give a boost.

Are you asking if the page linked from the root page (with, presumably, any old link text) gets the benefit of the text in links to the root page?

I would seriously doubt it. In effect, that would mean Google calculating its famous iterations for anchor text as well as for the links themselves and it just wouldn't be worth their while to do it.

Meaning does only the individual page www.webmasterworld.com/index.html get a boost for the key phrase "Google News" or does the entire domain get a boost?

Quarfelburg, if anchor text to a domain's root helps the other pages on the domain, then I haven't seen any mention of it.
