You may drop out for a short little while if you have EXTENSIVE downtime, but I wouldn't worry too much about it if it is just for a little while, even if Gbot is spidering.
They've made that little bot pretty durn smart;)
As of two hours ago my site's ISP have had a quote 'UPS failure' - what a paradox.
Am I likely to be removed from the SERPS or will Google use the last crawl for indexing?
Need to know cause ASAP if anyone can tell me.

Whilst I concur that Google won't penalise you (my competitor had a site go down for 4 weeks, and it still ranked well), I have to be mischievous and ask why you need to know ASAP.
If you need to know ASAP, it implies you know what to do about it between now and the next indexing....
So do tell us what you'll do if you don't get the answer you want!

If I am removed, to the competition I am one invisble website that will comeback after a nice long holiday (until next update) and probably take my no. 1 spot back.
If it does not effect SERPS it means that on the day of the index Google use their last crawl and do not test in realtime. There was nothing in the question accept I was a little anxious when my site went down.
Apart from being very unlucky I am not back up and the SERPS have not changed. :)
