If you mean changing the content of one page to being on another with a different filename, you can do a 301 redirect from the old to the new. You'll want to avoid having duplicate content turning up.

i have noticed my pages popularity drop when i make changes. p.s. has anyone had to revert to using their bookmarks of late?

Yeah, I've noticed this, particularly when titles have been changed. Pages seem to fall into Limbo.....
