Secondary PR

A link from a site who links to a site who links to your site :)

A person approached me today asking to link swap. There wouldn't be hardly anything involved in traffic, but they are a PR6 and I wouldn't mind the additional PR boost. However, I noticed that they link to a site that links to us, so in a way, we're already receiving PR from them.

So as it stands right now it's PR6 site -> PR5 site -> My Site. Is getting an additional link that goes PR6 site -> My Site a "waste of time", a "great idea", or "doesn't really matter"? :) Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think that's tertiary PR ALbino. :-)

You're right, you already receive PR from them; but an extra link straight to you would give you some more.

Why consider the PR? If you want your page to rank well, then you want links from other sites with appropriate link text.

Is there any reason to NOT have that extra link?

How many of your current links are purely "primary"? How much of your PR is not derived from dmoz linking to sites A,B,C.. which eventually link to you? Would you refuse a link swap with dmoz?

I would gladly grab that extra link.
