but nowhere alse...

Having said that it is actualy google.co.uk with pages from the UK. This is actualy two questions:

1) I have top 5 for all keywords in .co.uk, and mostly #1 or#2. In the main index I'm still floating out in the 30's. Would it be fairly safe to say that the on-page factors would be about right and I just need to work on links?

2) As the message states I'm fairly happy with Google results, although I don't do well on any other engines. Is this other people experience? I wouldn't say I've optimized just for G, it is just what I believe good SEO practice in General. Any suggestions for striking a balance with other engines?

Any ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to start changing loads of things and losing my current positions.

You may have answered your own question.

Compare your google.com "global" = normal results with other search engines.
(alltheweb for example).

I think you are getting competition from non-UK resident english content webpages.

I find that in general, Alltheweb and Pure Inktomi results tend to follow Google's given time. Allthough Alltheweb likes proximity more and pays a little bit less attention to internal links. Could it be that your Google results are pretty recent?

I've had pretty good .co.uk results for a couple of months now. I've spent the past few weeks building links and have pretty much doubled them now, so I'm hoping this will have an impact!

I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. I just wanted a sanity check that on-page stuff must be OK if it does so well with UK, and therefore it's just more good links with the right anchor text
