i still wonder what the requirements for being listed in for example a UK-only search at google.co.uk are is it the nameserver for the domain, the domain itself, the meta-language tag?

Part of it is the name server and part of it is the ip address used to host the site.

>nameserver Can't confirm that. At least for Europe, excluding UK, it's IP only, if the TLD is generic. A site with local nameserver and foreign IP will not be included.
>simple Whatever Google does today might change tomorrow. That's why I recommend getting local hosting along with local TLD whenever possible. Unfortunately it is not always possible :) Getting local TLDs is for some countries very difficult.
