200.000+ results on google.com, 2.000.000+ on google.at

for same query

hello,

searching the web for "widget software", google.com finds 255,000 documents.
google.at finds 2,650,000 documents for the same web search.

what do you think are the reasons for this wide difference?
is this just normal or does it mean something?

i don't know exactly how many times i did repeat it... i think it's been some 10-15 times within 1 hour.
i also did the web search on google.de, which gave me 800,000+ results.

i did repeat the search after reading your reply, and guess what:
google.com, .at and .de all find 249,000 results for that same query...
whatever it was, it seems to be gone.

sorry for this premature post, i should have waited a little longer.

hm...

google.at now has 1,210,000 results for my query, which is almost one million more than 15 minutes ago.
i repeated the search at least 30 times.

is there something going on?

I've been seeing a lot of dancing over the last few days in my categories...

From what I'm seeing, there has been a major update in the Google database in the past 24 hours.

Also, number of returned results continues to increase steadily. I've seen this happening for the past 60 days now. What used to return 1 million results, now returns 2 million results. What used to return 5 million results, now returns almost 12 million.

Same experiences here (in Holland), for several days.
My usual 'widget' search for months returned some 2,5 million results.
Now it are 3,6 million and on www3 even 7 million.
