I have a number of sites that hover around the 5 PR (fluctuating at the moement despite 200 odd quality backlinks) and although I feel I have a pretty good understanding of the overall PR topic for google, I couldn't find an up to date topic since recent changes.

As is being seen across the board, PR is no longer the Holy Grail to ensure number one position's. However what will happen if I simply link a PR 7 to link to my PR5 (hyperthetical I know at the moment):

1. PR6 and a jump in positions for all results
2. PR6 and no jump at all in positions unless the link is suitable anchor text
3. PR6 and no change whatsoever as PR is now no longer the barometer
4. Stay PR5 with a simple jump in my pages up the google results

? I have so many computations I'm going nuts...

Can anyone enlighten me on this one as it could save me some late nights surfing...

TW;)

PR still helps to a certain extent. As PR goes up, you don't necessarily have to have an "exact match" for the keyword phrase on the page in order to show up at the top of the rankings.
