I just ran across a competitor doing some outranking and the difference seems to be some keyword stuffing in the ID= portion of CSS tags. Anyone else seeing similar?

chinook, I honestly think there's some other reason for your competitor's success.

well let me rephrase it so that it isn't a comparison of my site versus theirs. Does keyword stuffing in attributes (id= or class= )of css tags improve position on google. By way of interest didn't see the same kind of results on other se's.

I can't say categorically, but it would be pretty incredible if id or class attribute values gave any serious boost in Google. Last time I ran the <a title="..."> test there was zero affect.

<a title="..."> test there was zero affect.

That would imply a filter by google and if there was no filter for id= or class= then that would be quite significant.

"Filter"? I would say "not a factor".

I would expect that google would ignore everything inside tags except what they specifically decide to use. It would be much easier for them than making a new filter each time they want to exclude something.

But I have not tested it, and don't intend to.
