I am hoping for a little insight on linking with sub domains. My sub domains are customer sites, ones that are currently orphaned as far as not being linked to from my main site. They also don't link back to my main site. I'm hoping, however, to create some inbound links to the sub domains (via awards and submissions into directories) and then from those to my own main index. Similarly, I have some customers with their own domain name (same ip as mine since I host them) with which I would like to do the same. Each site has its own unique content so there’s no question of duplication, but how can I do this above board as far as Google is concerned. Could it be considered a doorway to my main site and, if so, would linking to each sub domain from a site map on my main site solve that? Finally, if I submit the customer sites to the DMOZ is that considered to be getting two listings, which I assume is a big no-no? Any advice is welcome. I don't want to be paranoid but I also don't want to misstep.
