Are IPs relevant to google? If I have two domains on the same IP, does G count them as the same domain/subdomain?

And what exactly is a gateway? A sitemap?</clueless>

Thanks in advance!

Many sites on google have domains which exist on the same IP. It seems to be OK as long as they are relevant and informative. Site maps can be gateways. any page which is not your default page that brings someone to your site is a gateway. I have a few pages www.mydomain/keyword which get picked up separately. The content is centered around the keyword. title tags and all but I make it Informative. This way the reader doesn't get turned off and it isn't spam.
The problem arises when you have two domains on the same server which point to each other with very similar content.
