When did backlinks update?

I wasn't watching the ball, and now it has suddenly rolled.

Enough of my ball analogy... :)

My rankings seem to still be fluxing around after the update last month, but backlinks have been updated

If there was a backlinks update, approximately when did it happen, and did anything else change too?

Does anyone know? :)

I'd appreciate if someone could post their two cents.

What update, the monthly update of SERPS is over.

It is being done on a continuous basis and this is why your SERPs are fluxing.

The only thing changing monthly or there abouts is backlink totals and PR displays. By the time the numbers change, it doesn't matter because they have already been calculated, thus the flux in the SERPs during the month as things change on a continous basis.

Slerp's changed on aug. 4 and the backlinks updated like 3 days after. Then the slerp's changed again on the 26 of aug. and links updated 3 days later. I'm not sure but, it looks like the slerp's are about to change again (it feels like they did today) so say on the slerp's update lookout:).

A look on Google of sites containing the terms of my website URL went up from 216 to 330 a couple of days ago and today it dropped back to 216; very strange. It's like Google recognised that 114 extra sites had my website listed then they all just dropped me again (which obviously they didn't do)

There seems to be very little predictability with Google at the moment.

not strange at all.
You were assigned different servers for your searches by random.

To be sure, only use www2.google.com OR www3.google.com
These subdomains will always result in asking exactly the same machine.

>>What update, the monthly update of SERPS is over.

The traditional 'dance' may be over, but there are still monthly backlinks updates (which I believe was the original question).

pegaweb, my notes show the start of the backlinks updates for the past three months as:

aug - aug 29
july - aug 8
june - june 15

PageRank still seems to be adjusting during this update period, but with all the algo changes, its difficult to determine what relevance G is placing on PR these days.

The rolling updates seem to be in play these days, but I'm only seeing significant moves (in the SERPS) on my newer sites, with the older sites staying relatively stable.

So nothing changed with the old days....

Except for the number of backlinks.
