internal linking

how to get internal pages linking to your home page

upon selecting backward links, I see many of the highly ranked google sites have their own internal pages comeup. how can I incorporate that in my site.
upon selecting backward links, none of my internal pages are displayed!

Whether Google will show your backlinks depends on some factors, how big is the PR of the linking site and probably also how big is the PR of the linked site. They are all counted independent from whether they are shown or not.

Just put ordinary links back to your home page and they will be counted as backlinks with the next update (whenever this will be) :)

This is sometimes a problem that take a little digging. Most times it's just PR and having the links back to the homepage from interior pages.

Not always; there's an occasional quirk. I've been wrestling with one client site about this very thing. In this case it involves a shift from .html to .shtml but hasn't been resolved yet. Links to the homepage were changed from relative to absolute, next thing is a site map and getting links to a couple of interior pages.
