Hi Folks,

sorry if this is something which was already posted. but i couldn't find anything.

i registered a new domain. or better i tought it was new.
the domain has been set up yesterday. but when i first visited my new site i saw that it had a PR of 0.

does this mean, that this domain was up once already?

i can't find anything in google and other SEs. Was this site banned from google, and the orign owner just dropped it? is there a way to find out if this domain was up and running already in the past?

thx for help

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, antobo.

PR0 only indicates a penalty in very rare cases. More often, the URL is in Google but has no links to it with enough PageRank to give it PR1 or more. Equally likely, the page isn't in Google yet and therefore has no PageRank (like the thread reply page I'm typing into now - PR0 but certainly no penalty!)

Hi ciml,

thanks for your answer.

what i wonder about, is that this page wasn't registered and reachable till yesterday. after i uploaded everything and wanted to have a look on the page i saw that the page had a PR of 0. shouldn't it be grey, if this domain wasn't registered?

thx again

antobo1,

You can use your google toolbar to see if google has a "cached" copy of your site. That would be a good indication that Google has indexed your site.

Hi elklabone,

sorry for not writing this infomation in my preview posts.
i tried the backward links and the cached version options of the toolbar, but both return 0 results. i'm really afraid, that i registered a domain, which is banned by google and i have no chance to get into google.

That was the Toolbar PR graph behaviour, but don't know how it decides between white and grey for unindexed pages now.

Does the domain have a history at the internet archive (http://www.archive.org/)?

Hey antobo1,
I setup my domain a few months ago and it was PR 0 for a while. Now the PR has gone up after the backlinks updates.
Even though i had backlinks it showed 0 results for a while.
Eventually has caught up to it, so dont stress about, worry about making good content and by the time your finished.
Your PR will go up
:)
hope that healps.

it's a hair-pulling day.

I had a couple of different sites that were definitely listed last month, which also happened to be their first month submitted.

One of them even had a page one result.

Now when I go to google and type in the URL, it says there is no information for them.

If I type in LINK: url there are a handful of backlinks.

I was doing all these queries in crazybrowser.

When I hop over to IE, where my googlebar lives, and type in the URL for one of them, it has that nice little green bar that implies some pagerank.

So I have pagerank, but am not indexed? lawsamussy.
