I suspect that one of my competitors is using my company name in anchor text back to his site, is this likely to have any significant impact on my serps or his?

My suspicions were raised when I did a search on Google for my company name i.e. "walters widgets" and his site came up in the serps. When I click on the cached version of his site Google reports "These terms only appear in links pointing to this page"

Then when I do an allinanchor: search his site comes up again.

What would be the quickest way to find the sites that are linking to him with this anchor text? Despite my best efforts I've failed to find them so far.

Simon.

could you do a

link:www.hisdomain.com

and then "search within these results" for "your company name"?

AllTheWeb's advanced search is sometimes useful for tracking down specific links that don't show up in Google.

type this -> 'inurl:hisdomainname inanchor:widget -site:hisdomainname' (w/o the quotes)

note: you can't use allinanchor with this syntax thus you have to use 'inanchor' the only catch is...you can only use it with one word...I suggest a very unique word

wrong format: inanchor:walter widget

correct format: inanchor:walter or inanchor:widget

The result would show all url/s that have his/her domain name on it minus his/her own site with the anchor 'widget'

Example inurl:webmasterworld.com inanchor:traffic -site:webmasterworld.com

shows 1 url - Alexa's rating of WW traffic

or if the above is not accurate enough, you might try this...

walters widget hisdomain -site:hisdomain inanchor:widget

Hmmmm. I tried all of the above and can't track it down, I guess it could be a Google glitch?
