google site: command query bug?

just noticed something strange due to some fast/poor typing on my part.

If I do a site:www.somedomain.com -asdf (put any major corporate domain here - but for this example I replaced microsoft with "somedomain" which shows a very drastic result in this test because it has so many pages indexed)

I will get results of 295,000 pages.

But if I type in site:www.somedomain.com -asdf-asdf I will get 441,000 pages.

and if I add another -asdf to the end again to make the query
site:www.somedomain.com -asdf-asdf-asdf I get 585,000 pages.

Obviously this query is extremely artificial but I'm wondering if it's a bug or if that's what multiple "-" signs means tied together like that. I've never seen another query where google would count the same pages over and over like this one appears to do.

It's not specific to the multiple "-" signs. Using different strings instead of "-asdf" has a similar effect.

site:somedomain.com -tbdwplo
613000 results

site:somedomain.com -mprtzao
610000 results

site:somedomain.com -pwqztng
611000 results
