Problem with Results in Google Directory

Hello, is anyone else noticing rather strange behavior with the ordering of listings in the Google Directory? Ever since Google went to their new rolling format, I'm noticing in some categories, all of the page rank bars are equal, although when clicking on individual sites they show different numbers. It's a bit confusing because Google says that they are showing in Google Page Rank Order, but it doesn't appear to be the case when you view the results.

I'm noticing that the display order seems to be permanently showing all equal green bars in terms of page rank, but different page rank numbers when clicking on sites, and some of the more popular sites in terms of page rank are listed close to the bottom of the category, even though they show a higher page rank when one clicks on the sites themselves. Just wondering if this was a glitch or if there is some reason that Google would be doing this?

The Google Directory has been whacked for months. Don't waste your time on it until Google finds the time to update it.

I really wish they would.

GoogleGuy, are you listening?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I second your request berli, would love to hear some feedback on this from GoogleGuy if he can spare a free moment. I was teaching a class this week and always show students the different search engines that they can use to access info on the Net. Google is always at the top of my list in terms of useability, and some of my students were using different search engines to do some research. In the class, it was actually one of my students who asked about "Google Page Rank order" vs plain old "alphabetical" order.

I knew I had been getting rather strange results since Google's big changes, but it does make it a bit challenging to try to explain to students who may not have used Google before why the Page Rank ordering wasn't working in the Directory section.

Anway, hope this is something that can be solved, or just list alphabetically until it can be fixed so as not to confuse end users.

thanks again for commenting on this:-)
