Untitled Document - 3rd in Search Results?

Why use the title when you can be 3rd for nothing!

I was amazed to find not only results showing Amazon and the usual PDF files but a web page with no title yes a 'Untitled Document' reaching 3rd position in a strong keyword search.

Come on Google clean up before Yahoo cleans up the lot!

Title is one of a number of factors that help.

It is also possible to rank well with a relevant title but not relevant body text or inbound anchor text.

I can offer "system-check" as no. one .... (that SERP is not on anything technical).

The page with that title however is absolutely on topic...

It doesn't matter because no one is going to click on that Untitled site anyways. If you have a good title for your site most people will click on yours before they click on that site regardless of the # in the SERP. The title tag is not just for the search engines. It is for the user.

A google search for my keyword turns up a page with a Ge*cit*es address with no title at #3. There are no keywords listed only body text.
