I read a great article about the structure and design of Google's clusters and datacenters, which a friend would like to see, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone remember reading this. The only phrase that I can remember from it is "relatively inexpensive merge" but I am unable to turn it up via search engines.

Here's an older one from June, 2000

[internetwk.com...]

And several good ones here in this search that relate, though they're mostly in PDF format

That's because your memory is slightly faulty. Try searching for "relatively inexpensive merging" instead.

Awesome clusters :) no wonder they get results like...
Results 1 - 10 of about 3,510,000,000. Search took 0.17 seconds
