How does Google Bot handle auto-forwarding?

Does Google Bot bother to spyder pages that auto-forward?

I have many old doorway pages that auto-forward to new doorway pages. Does the spyder analyze the old doorway page, or just follow the auto-forward to the new page?

It will eventually forward and update the site's entry in the directory, though it will take considerably longer than a server based 301 Redirect. I used the meta refresh technique on a site I did not have access to set up a real redirect and it took about 8 weeks before the change appeared in the SERPs.

Just a sidenote; 301 redirects are pretty fast now with the new bot behavior it seems:

I do think META-redirect pages are indexed. Gbot doesn't just follow and ignore them afaik. I've seen such pages in the serps.
