Newbie question:
I have a three month old site that has been indexed by Google. That is, when I search for [mydomain.com...] the listing comes up. However when I search for a keyword phrase like "hi, i'm selling widgets here", nothing is returned in the serp.
This was not true a month ago, "hi, i'm selling widgets here" would bring up the listing in the serp. The page is also in the cache.
I have a lot more development to do with the content on the site. Should I just be patient and assume Google will catch up? Is it possible I did something wrong?
So if you've done something wrong, I must've done it too. I'm hoping it's just going to take awhile, and that although we were found and indexed, we weren't actually ranked or something...I don't understand. :)
Can anyone tell us whether we should be concerned yet?
Good luck!
Jude
You are not making a mistake, far from it.
Our website is 3 years old, no spam just good se fodder and our index page has been disappearing from the serps for 3 days now, not in cache, says the domain cannot be found although all the other pages are fine, index page cannot be found in any data centre, this is prepostorous as we have as i said done nothing wrong at all.
Your comments are appreciated. sticky me if you like.
Bek.
My site has not been down and is crawled regularly every day, the index page is just missing as was in the top 10 for our keyphrase a few days ago
My index page is not showing any cache and is also not showing on any of the other datacentres
our site is over 3 years old and has been doing very well for a long time, the site is crawled every day including the index page.
I think the serps are showing vintage data but we have always been in a good position, and the strange thing is new pages only a few days old are in the serps as well.
Can you explain this?
Will this remedy itself and is anyone experiencing the same.?

Have been experiencing the "disappearing index page" phenom for a couple of sites. The first site's index page reappeared a week ago (after bieing MIA for about 3 weeks), still waiting on the second.
I honestly think all the "missing index page" prblems are, for the most part, an offshoot of the new "rolling update", whereas, if your site get's missed for whatever reason during the current rolling "crawl", your out of luck unti lthe next big "update" (which seem, at least for sites in my genre, to occur every 14-18 days or so).
The site has a pr of 4 utica and has been doing very well on google, the page is crawled every day, the thing is my competitors above me have been using hidden keywords, spam etc and their sites are consistently at the top.
Webfusion - Are your pages crawled every day but do not get included the same as us?
