I recently added a page to my website, checking my keywords for that page in google brought up it in a high position. when i click on it, it shows "error404". How can i rectify this situation in the google serp's. Thanks for the help

Sounds like you may have renamed the page since Google indexed it. Compare the resulting Google DNS error address, with what it should be.
If that is what happened, and Google hasn't visited since, just rename it to the old filename, and you should be in business.
