OK, here's a head-scratcher ;-)
For a three letter acronym (not uncommon in this sector), and for a page in English, I'm at 18 after a bunch of Japanese pages.
When I click on "Would you prefer to search for English results only?" I'm at no.20!

Could someone please help me find the logic in this?

Looking at the two different sets of results suggests to me that your first search was mistaking your content for noun (SEO is apparently Japanese name) rather than acroynm.. your second taking the search to be for acroynm.
Google appears to be weighting words interpretation dependant on the language focus.

The second set appears crowded full of S.E.O the first full of Seo.

(This taking your first search to be not language specific i.e. =all languages not =Japanese)

Checking again this morning, the two results now correspond exactly apart from my missing page, so it seems to be a personal rather than a general glitch :-(
