Example link url in browser status bar:
[theirdomain.com...]
When you click the banner, it then seems to redirect to the home page of the banner advertiser.
How does this effect backlink ratings in Google? Does Google give you page rank points for this type of banner link?
Also, since the banner is a graphics file, is there a way to add anchor text? Instead of a graphics file, could I give them an html table with the same dimensions as the banner, then use html text as my anchor text...
Any advice on this would be much appreciated!
The downside is that Google will not count any pagerank benefit for your site from the links.
In terms of static links, most banner networks only allow graphics as this is easier for them to police. There are one or two that allow HTML to be used in ads but it's pretty rare.
I think I may be able to talk them into letting me put an html table in the banner spot, so I could possibly use html text...
My final question:
If this PR 7 page has about 35 crosslinks (links to pages within the same domain), but only one other outside backlink, will I get most of those PR 7 points...does Google count the other crosslinks on that page or only external links?
Thanks!
