How long does the freshbot effect last?

and does pagerank factor in?

Currently it seems that new pages are still given a bit of a boost in the serps. How long does this boost last? By the time I notice it in my review of the logs the rank is gone.

How much does pagerank factor into this boost?

My guess: new domains with new pages and content last about a week high up in the serps. After 7 to days they drop down in the serps.
The PageRank doesn't seem to be a factor for the first week; it must to be estimated. The correct PageRank for a new domain will show about six weeks after the first listing in Google. And its not enough anymore to have one link from a PR7 site to get a PR5, you need more inbound links. But thats only guessing...

New listing (new domain) will last for around 1-2 weeks.

Hmmm... I beg to differ... we haven't seen any falling off at all for any of our sites.... what we get (which is now taking about 7 days on average) gets high and stays high...

Don't forget - page rank can increase your ranking when factored in for a new site as well. =)

I don't think the drop is as severe for less competitive terms. Are your terms very competitive?

I'll tell you. I'm having a hard time telling the difference between freshbot and the incremental update. The lines have blurred.

Yes, they are competitive.

Now that's not to say that in a field of say 50 key phrases, where the top 7 (including one and two worders) are most competitive that we manage to get those top seven super highly ranked...

SO, in other words, wherever we get key phrases ranked... whether number 1, top 5, or only top 30... they don't seem to be fluctuating (much at least, the normal 1 up 1 down thing) with time.
