Virtual Dedicated Server and Google?

Our hosting comapany (the same one that serves WebmasterWorld) is moving to VDS - meaning, you can purchase a block of space with a "single IP" that resolves to name based system.

Unlimited domains can be hosted in that space but they will share "one IP address".

Is anyone on a simular system? Does Google treat it the same as dedicated IP and dedicated hosting?

Is there any reason to think that VDS is going to be a problem with Google?

Yes, if you have only one domain on this IP.

GoogleGuy once said that Google is smart enough to know that multiple sites can be hosted on 1 IP, so that shouldn't be a problem

Never had a problem with that kind of set-up.

Crosslinking sites on the same URL will not benefit LocalRank though.

Most sites are on a virtual host (by number at least). I've never seen a problem with it. We'd have a big problem if every little site needed a static IP (probably have to be using IPv6 by now).

I think the question needs to be split in two.

1. Does Google have any difficulty spidering Web sites on virtual hosts?

No.

2. Does Google give the same benefit to anchor text between two domains on the same IP as it does for anchor text between two domains on different IPs?

?
