Links from Dynamic Pages

Do they count?

I have a website with 800 pages listed and the index page has a pagerank 4. Every internal page links to the homepage but no dynamic pages show when querying google using the link command.

Does this mean google ignores dynamic pages when counting incoming links?

No I have a few solid links that point to my site from dynamic sites, all are above a PR4 though.

The general rule is that the page will need a PR4 to show as a backlink!

What you need to remember it a dynamic page only exists when it is queried. In order for these pages to be crawled by Google there has to be a link to them. Sometimes dynamic pages do get crawled but this could be due to links fron log files ect.

If you have good navigation and hard links pointing to your importaint pages then a dynamic site will be crawled well. Then dynamic pages will count as back links to pages they link to.

I would see no reason why if Google has found and indexed those dynamic pages that it wouldn't count the links on those pages.

Search engines have, in the past, had trouble spidering dynamic content but from what I have seen for myself, and read (on this forum), Google and other SEs are getting better at this. Once the page has been found Google should treat the page like any other piece of HTML it has found.

The most probable reason those backlinks are not showing is that their PR is too low to show on the toolbar.

Toolbar PR and real PR arent always the same, general rule as I said if its a PR4 and it links to you then it should show as a backlink in Google.
