I have been reading in the forums, and know that backlink is very important for google ranking, however, I have no idea that what kind of link will be take as backlink. I guess there are hundreds of sites linked to my site, however I only got around 50 backlinks. Any comments will be appreciate!

This is also something I'm not sure about, ie, which type of links actually pass on PR and count. A list would be really helpful.

Any HREF link should count for passing on PR. But Google only shows backlinks that are over a certain PR when you ask for a list of backlinks.

It would be nice if it showed all of them.

So in this example link, linkingsite.com would pass full PR to me even though my site isn't mentioned here?

[linkingsite.com...]

This is an urban legend. I have several PR3 links and one PR2 link that show as backlinks.

For one of my sites, I have no backlinks showing, although there are several.

www.linkingsite.com/cgi-bin//jump.cgi?ID=0000

I'm not sure about that. If jump.cgi uses a 301 redirect, then it might count as a backlink. For best effect, though, the link should point right to www.yoursite.com.

Not so long ago, it used to be PR4 upwards only.

If you're looking for a PR boost that doesn't inspire confidence to pay for advertising.
