When I check my listing on www-cw.google.com it says I appear in a directory category (which I applied to a month ago), however when check that category I am not there.

Does this mean that

1) I will be there shortly
or
2) They deem my site to be about this subject, however it is not worthy of a real listing?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome. You are already there, don't worry. :)

That problem started a month ago. One of the examples in the thread Dmoz Update - New tags showing in Google [webmasterworld.com] is still reproducable. Search for 'Microsoft' and click on the category:

Computers > Companies > ... > Microsoft Corporation

I think I have the same thing going on...

If you do a search on my web site in Google, it comes up with a description underneath linking to a directory category. However, the site is not actually listed in the directory, nor is it listed at the dmoz.org site. What happened? Was it added one day and then removed later?

Great, glad to hear =)

Now the real question is am I getting the benefits of a real listing in terms of PR or inbound count?

PageRank depends on the pages linking to your page. Since there was no (and still is no) link to your page on the page in the Google Directory at the moment it was last spidered before the PR was recalculated, no benefit yet. So it will come later.
