my site name is so unique that virtually any search for it's name points to our site. Our main page PR is 6-7. and we are at the top 5 results to our target keywords search. (thank you google :-) )

now I have noticed that for the last couple of weeks, the number of pages returns from our site are fluctuating almost on a daily basis, ranging from 276,000 to 215,000 pages and all the numbers in between.... is google preparing us a surprise?

No indication of any surprises, it seems to be happening just about daily.

Backlinks changed in the last few days. Maybe that was it?

Not a lot else going on.

You're just returning results from different datacenters that have not synched up all of the way yet.
