Unusually, Google is down for me (.co.uk and .com). All other sites working.

I am on Blueyonder in the UK.

It's been mentioned a couple of times on and off in the last day or so, just UK. Is it up now?

It was down for about an hour in total last night for me. Not a good sign.

Lately I have been getting a few timeout's when searching through the toolbar. UK also.

I've run into it down several times for very short periods over the last... two weeks?

Things have gotten extremely slow around here. Is there a problem with google? I am getting more referrals from MSN than Google and that was never the case in the past.

Anybody else notice this? Thanks!

I noticed the same last month but this month Google seems to be recovering. Still low but not as low as in June.

Works fine for me? You might want to try spybot or ad-aware and see if your computer has scumware; that might explain it. I haven't heard any internal reports of Google having any problems lately, so it probably wouldn't hurt to check your computer.

What is spybot? How does it work, what does it do and why would I need it?

spybot = spybot search and destroy. It's a program that detects nasty stuff you can catch from surfing the web. This nasty stuff is called spyware or scumware, and unless your Internet Explorer is battened down pretty well, this junk can make its way onto your system. Once there, it can add new links on the desktop, show pop-ups as you surf/search, modify web pages to add new links, etc. etc. Usually when people think that Google is slow or down, it turns out to be that they have an infected machine instead.

Google has been acting wierd for me the last 36 hours or so here as well and this pc is clean as a whistle.

Yeah, me too (clean anyway, it's been fine for me in the last 36, although it seems to have put our main site into first place for our main searchwords, which of course isn't weird behavior ;-] ). Our machines are cleaned up once a week. I cleaned mine again just to make sure - nothing found.

What happens with me is that once in a while I'll do a search from the toolbar and I get some form of 'page not found'. Then, maybe seconds but usually a minute later it's back. All this since Esme.

On tuesday I was having a lot of trouble accessing google, between about 9am-12am (au), it started out with server cannot be found, but then it ended up with those msn dnserror pages, saying google could not be found. I took a picture of it if because it was so unlike google (my email url + g_down.gif). Notice those 3 links saying search the web, they all go to exactly the same place ;)

I have been trying to search in Google.de in German by clicking the third radial button. I do this all the time with no trouble, but this afternoon it started to flip back to the "Web" results (first radial button) after the first page of results, rather than continue giving me more German results. Then I checked and found this to be the case for Google.ch, Google.ca and Google.fr as well. I've never seen anything like this before. Has anyone else?

Are you sure that what you are seeing is specific to Google? I have noticed a lot of things not working quite right on the web in the past few days: overall slow responses, and links to major sites that suddenly don't work anymore. I see that on different computers, so I don't think that it is scumware related.

regional results do seem to be going to web results after the first page in the UK too :(

Google.com and co.uk were both down last night.

Caused me no end of grief because that's my default page and when I can't get that I assume that my router is broke. (I mean, Google is NEVER down). I unplugged everything, bunged a modem in, couldn't find the drivers, stripped another machine, got another modem with driver, put it in and used dial up... and Google was still down.

Oh well.
