How long for PR to be transfered?

New launched website with several good links still shows white bar.

Hi guys,

I hope this is the right forum for my question...

I launched a new website about 4 weeks ago and googlebot visited just 2 days after I went online. All pages are in the index and I get some traffic.

I have another website with PR5 - I placed a link to my new project. After 1 week google spidered my PR5 site and even updated its cache. Also, I got some additional links from topic related websites and directories with PR 2 to 5.

Now I wonder, how long it takes for PR to be transfered to my new site - still shows PR0 (white bar). As google is doing "on the fly updates" now - how long does it take to find all backlinks and calculate PR for a new site?

Does anybody have a similar experience or some explaination?

Thx,

Tobias

It may be a while before we know, Tobias. It used to be that the Toolbar PR would change after one or two updates (so roughly four to eight weeks), at which time the link search would show the link and the rankings would improve.

Now, the backlinks show and the ranking improves before the Toolbar catches up.

Right now, it seems to be taking 2-4 updates for PR, even with great backlinks right from the start. ciml is right on the money about the toolbar catching up ;) As long as you are showing up in the serps, don't get too worried about it.

Welcome Tobias!

It is my understanding that it used to take a few updates to fully establish/calculate the PR for a new site.

I have a similar situation as you. At this point I could care less about the PR that shows up in the toolbar.

What has concerned me is that it does not seem as though some links were counted when they calculated the PR for the serps. I have similar sites linked to from similar sources in a similar competitive keyword. An older site is near the top and my newer site hovers near 80. In certain cases these sites were built in March.

The best I can do is be patient and focus on PPC, adwords and MSN while we wait.

I am glad I am not the only one waiting for the backlinks to be updated... .

what is really strange: although my PR5 site was spidered and updated in the cache, google does not show the backlink to my new site. I mean, I have several links from pr5, pr4 sites but when I do a search with link:www.domain.com I get no results at all.

Well, I guess I just have to be patient... .
