May 12th and still no update, only days of endless agony over what we see in -sj and -fi. Where is this mystical index with all of our sites and current deepbot data?

I read that Google has modified it's banking format to comply with how public companies do it - thus insinuating that they will be going public in the near future.

Given this, why not create a formal Google SEO Admin/Public Relations dept?

It seems that you have only 1 foot in the water. You want to help us and keep us informed and ask that we assist you with feedback, spam removal, bugs etc and yet you don't want to 'let us in' too much?

If Google was to have SEO press releases on a Google SEO Site - exact formal PR releases of when the index updates at the least - but could also include when deepbot and freshbot are on the move etc. An entire site dedicated to Google and SEO's ran by google. Tutorials etc - more informed = less spam and better results overall. Also let's face it - we rely on google to make money. When we are biting our finger nails day and night for 10+ days because of what sj and fi burped up it causes a large drop in our productivity and causes us all stress. These are real tangible things and I feel Google should take some responsibility for this and accept that we all do exist and this is supposed to be a relationship we have... you have an audience of SEO's that you don't treat the way you could and the way I feel you should based on your future plans to go public.

Everyone would benefit if Google did this.

Every other search engine on the web is a public entity. And I haven't seen any of them do what you proposed, so why would they?

In the big picture, we (the SEO community) are a small, insignificant factor in Google's future success or failure. We are like the parasitic fish clinging to the belly of the shark.

Interesting description of SEOs. ;)

"We are like the parasitic fish clinging to the belly of the shark."

No, I think that SEO's are more like the little fishies that swim into the shark's mouth to clean its teeth.

Not parasitic, but symbiotic. Each serves a purpose for the other, without which neither could long survive.

Formal SEO press releases? I wouldn't expect those anytime soon. But I will keep hanging around trying to answer questions. :)

Ok, then how about this:

1. Has the update began?
2. If not, will it begin in the next 5 days?
3. Does -fi and -sj have anything to do with the update?

How about you just tell us.

"The update has not started"

"There is some stuff happening on sj and fi - don't worry about it - it's old stuff we are playing around with"

Something like that. It just seems like we spend oodles of time deducing what's going on - and you say "uhmmm yeah sounds good"

How come you are not informing us prior to or at the time these events happen?

jojojo,

GoogleGuy has answered these questions a number of times (though the responses may now be buried under thousands of posts. The answers were 1. yes, 2. N/A, and 3. Yes.

GG-

may i ask your (GOOGLE's) opinion of SEO companies? i dont mean the good guys or obvious bads guys, i mean the overall view of the services, the idea that there are companies trying to figure out how to best meet (or beat in the bad guys case) your ranking criteria.

I must admit that I used to be very interested in the updates - including all the threads on this forum about them. But since about two months without real news I gave up on it. I just concentrate on content nowadays, let's hope google picks up on it ;-)
