things never seen before

Here are some referrers that we have never seen before (the URL of the referrer) in our statistics manager today:

[google.fi...]
[google.de...]
[google.it...]
[google.kz...]
[google.com.au...]

DNS aboe includes either center or country of origin.

Than we have GoogleGuy (seemingly) hinting at times that -sj is the content of things to come. But, on the other hand, -sj is not a contemporary (current) representation in terms of SERPS, cache, and backlinks.. At least not yet. So, what to make of that? Misreading of Zen Master's posts? Nor does it seem that the -sj index is propagation anywhere.

There is just not enough information being released from Google either here or anywhere else to figure out what is going on.

At the mercy of Google. Not much can do but wait & see. But wait and see for what is even a question at this point.

It would be nice if Google were more forthcoming in general changes it's making in it's index, for both listing sites and Google users. However that is just not the Google way historically.

Please don't mix www-fi.google.com with www.google.fi; the data centers or countries are not related.

www.google.fi = Finland
www.google.de = Germany
www.google.it = Italy
www.google.kz = Kazachstan
www.google.com.au = Australia

>>It would be nice if Google were more forthcoming in general changes it's making in it's index, for both listing sites and Google users.<<

Why? how could that help the user? They dont want to know why the car goes, they just need to be able to drive it. As for webmasters, Google is quite happy "and capable" of ranking sites without the help of webmasters. Why is it of any benefit at all to users, and the internet community as a whole - other than webmasters who want to change their sites as a result to appear over others - to know when Google is going to make changes to its index?

You CHOOSE to be at the mercy of Google. You analyse the pros and cons and trends and came to a decision to put your promotion time into "optimizing" for google. As a good businessperson you know the risks. You can stop being at the mercy of Google by getting incoming links, buying online and offline ads, getting listed in directories and other search engines, attracting the interest of the quality and interest-worthy things your site is doing, promoting your site in hundreds of other ways, and retaining your users.

Yep, this is not colonization from google; you can librerate yourself!

chiyo
your response concerning us on this forum, presumes that the listing site constituency is not important to Google. Which of course is not a good assumption. ;We actually are of high value to Google.

Why wouldn't users want to know good changes going on at Google? I think the value of that question is self explanatory.

Simple, because the average Google user doesn't care. The average Google user would be bored to death with information about changes Google is making to its algo, or adding spam filters, or stuff about backlinks, data centers, updates, freshbot... the average user wants to search and find stuff and that's it. Just like the average driver wants to get in and drive, not get in and read about changes made to it's engine.

Fair question.

Why doesn't a football team announce their tactics to the world before a game? Yes they can say nice general PR types of things, as Google has done in our instance, but are they going to reveal the secrets of their game plan to those who may wish to exploit it?

Yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken values its suppliers of bread rolls, coleslaw potatoes and soft drinks too, and like google, it will let the suppliers know when changes will occur which will benefit KFC by letting their suppliers know. But like Google, they are not going to let their suppliers know the details of the secret recipe!

Google didn't forget India. The point is there are so many languages spoken your country.

Roughly 35 are of some significance, particularly Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Bihari, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Tamil, and Telugu, each of which has at least 10 million speakers.
Source: History of Indian languages [diehardindian.com]

Of these 13 languages, the following 11 are supported:
[google.com...] (Hindi)
[google.com...] (Urdu)
[google.com...] (Bengali)
[google.com...] (Bihari)
[google.com...] (Gujarati)
[google.com...] (Kannada)
[google.com...] (Malayalam)
[google.com...] (Marathi)
[google.com...] (Punjabi)
[google.com...] (Tamil)
[google.com...] (Telugu)

I hope this list is correct and complete.

Greetings,
As a new member, I will keep my comments brief.

Chiyo is correct from a fundamental business development perspective. "never put all your eggs in one basket"... err, engine, or tactic.

PR/Press Releases for your clients or yourself. PPC's. Direct sales. telemarketing. Direct mail. How "brick and mortar" businesses built their empires, and still do...

Best to all!

Hi Editor, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You can also think at
- focus on other Search Engines & directories
- try to get links from related sites even if the PR is lower then on your own site to get traffic from these sites.
