Weird link: command behaviour

Am I missing something?
When I'm using command link: with a space between link: and domain name I get completely different and very interesting set of results. Try
link:yahoo.com (631,000 results on www) and
link: yahoo.com (1,650,000 results on www)

Nope, it's working exactly as it should. It is showing you pages that include the word "link" and "www", "yahoo" and "com". The colon, space and periods are all stop characters.
