Does it help to have a robot.txt for your site?

Hi all, I don't have a robot.txt on my pages of my sites and I get alot of googlebot get robot.txt, am I missing out on something or is everything good? Thanks all.

Everything's fine. Nice bots like the googlebot look for robots.txt every time they spider a domain. That's where you're getting all the requests. All robots.txt does is tell the "nice, abiding" bots where NOT to go. So with no robots.txt, you're telling googlebot, "come on in, the door's wide open." You're not missing out on anything unless you have places you don't want the bot to go.
