1. couple of doman names redirected (301)with the same back links as the main domain will help increase the PR?

2. Buying popular expired domains and redirecting will help?

In this recent thread [webmasterworld.com]GoogleGuy says that expired domains won't do you much good.

As for multiple domains pointing to the same site, Google can pick up on this and rank only one, giving a 'grey bar' to the other domain names.

Thanks jimbeetle

In that thread you have posted.
Google guy says.

Right now the penalties can remain on a domain. So you'll want to do your research before you buy a domain.

So any chance PR value will also stay with expired domains?

No matrix_neo, it all starts from scratch. Read the thread. You'll see "you just won't get credit for any pre-existing links" and "you won't get the old links for free" plus more.
