How does Google react to DNS change for a domain?

I transfered a domain to another server.
Does anything at all happens in regards to the domain's positions in Google?

I don't think google would care about DNS as such, they would only care about what they find once the DNS has resolved.

Therefore if the new server contains the same as the old, there would be no change to position in google.

However if your hosts don't handle the changeover well, there could be some down time which might adversly affect you if googlebot is crawling at that time.

I just swapped locations on the weekend. Your golden if you have the new site in the new space prior to or while the DNS is propagating.

From what I gather, you should leave your old site in it's space until you are certain that Google has updated it's DNS list, and is hitting your new space.

Yes leave your site on the old server until you see Googlebot on your new one. It takes Google a few weeks to follow the new info. If you don't you could fall out for a month if you miss the deep crawl.
