Freshbot visits

Has anyone ever experienced a negative result in their keyword placement in google due to their site being down at the time freshbot drops in?

My site has been in google for several months now so i'm just fishing for some possible explanations of why this might happen before I start thinking I was penalized and make some changes.

Do you mean the deepbot or the freshbot?

If your site was down when the freshbot came calling then your site wouldnt be dropped from the index.

It is also unlikely if your site was down when the deepcrawler came by that it would be dropped.

Are you sure that you site is no longer in Google, have you tried:

inurl:www.yoursitename.com

This should return all pages from your site that are in the Google index.

All of my pages are still there,they've just been pushed a lot further back in the search results for my keywords.

This has only happened in the last couple of days when the last lot of freshtags appeared.I've seen my site fluctuate by one or two pages before because of everflux but not 50!

A combination of Everflux and the freshbot can move the SERPS alot. Have a look through these:
