I have 900 or so links for my site, but the very large majority of them are internal, so Google stops listing them at no. 31. Other sites may have lots of internal links too, but I often find they have hundreds of internal pages listed, even if my site is substantially bigger than theirs.
I've noticed that all the internal pages listed for other sites often have different titles - and I'm seriously thinking that writing a unique title for each page will give it a much better chance of being listed as a separate link by Google - is this correct?
all the best,
Jeremy
In other words, Google only shows the backlinks which are most important in their opinion.
Having different titles very likely is a good ifdea anyway. The title is supposed to tell the reader as well as the engine what a page is about. So chances are visitors and bots alike will find your site much better.
Hint: it helps in ranking in almost all engines to have a meaningful title with the keywords in it.
You mentioned:

When I get the "In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the -- already displayed." message, I'd like to see a few more links to be considered "important". Changing the title while keeping main keywords might do this and increase the site's SERPS overall. Just an idea,
many thanks,
Jeremy
Having different, related titles is by far the most important thing!
- Searchers prefer to click on results if the title reflects what they searched for.
- Google ranks them appropriate / themeing etc..
- People will link to you using the tile of the linked page.
... many more reasons ...
Title, content, inbound and outbound links should reflect what the page is about! This way you'll satisfy all: you, the user and the se!
