I had recently been exchanging a link with a pr6 site. I went and checked the site since the last update and now found the site to be a pr0. I immediately dropped my link to the site but I'm not sure if I did it before the last deep crawl. What implications can I expect? Thanks

I dropped all my outbound links from all my web sites since I have been penalized(PRO) for linking to a PRO site.
If you really need to link to another site you better protect that link from being indexed.

Jeffry. Duid you remain PRO or was it reinstated back to original levels, if so how long did it take

Really can't say coosblues. Personally I wouldn't worry too much for now. My take is Google doesn't have their filters set to penalize any site linking to one PR0 site. I think it needs a bit more to get the boot.

We should also not forget: A PR0 is often times caused by the lack of relevant backlinks, in most cases it has nothing to do with a penalty. Does Google show backlinks to your page (you will find only PR3+ pages)? Search for pages in alltheweb that link to you AND then check those pages in the google-cache if the cached copy at google also contained the link. PR is calculated on an index per index basis. So only the cached pages' links to you count.
I agree with heini that it takes a lot more to get a penalty IMHO. We had this discussion before, and the whole web would be PR0 in no time if a single outbound link would suffice to be penalised.

Thanks everyone for your answers. The more I read the more I realized that only one link to a pr0 site should not invoke a penalty - or much of one. I read a thread that made me feel better basically saying that the entire web would be pr0'd if such a penality was invoked - i.e. Let's say I was to get a pr0 for one bad link - then the next update "in theory" everyone linking to me would recieve the Pr0 and so on down the line. I also used a capture program to take a screenshot of the offending site - then I zoomed in on the toolbar. There were two little green dots on the site so from that I made the assumption that the site did have a bit of pr - just not enough to reach a PR1. I know in the future I'll be much more careful in my linking. I suggest to everyone that they check the potential new link partners backlinks. This particular site I found was very heavily spammed with links all basically originating from sub-domains from the same website plus links which the webmaster had made using free servers. This site had maintained a pr5 for over a year, then went to pr6 about a month ago and soon after the last update was pr0'd - or very close. I'll keep my fingers crossed that one bad link won't affect my site to drastically. This just points out another problem with linking in my eyes. Now I have to check each link partner's background and also recheck them a day or so afer the update to make sure they really are quality links. Googleguy - I know you are out there SOMEWHERE. Can you give me hopefully a positive sign that this one bad link won't hurt my site terribly. I NEED SOME SLEEP :). Thanks again to everyone that answered.
