I've been reading these messages almost daily for 6 or 7 months. This is my first message so bare with me.
I’ve read what each of you thinks about keywords in the meta tags. Let me give you a little advice. I set out about 7 months ago to improve my listings. The technique I use is I try to get 2 pages listed on Goggle for the same keyword phrases. I had about 26 pages to work with. I have about 100 keyword phrases that I went after. About 90 of those keyword phrases listed, I have two of my pages one after the other in the top 10. I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but I noticed awhile ago that on the second page listed most of the time will show in part the keyword meta tags for the second page. It does show other parts of the page with it, but the keyword meta tag is looked at.
Now I don’t know why more people don’t go after two pages for the same keyword phrase, but it works for me and the keyword meta tags do help! At lease with the second page.

I always thought that only the meta description was used for this snippet if the keywords in the search phrase are found in the meta description and on the page.

It was the description meta tag that was showing up in the second page on Google. I misspoke, but since the time that I noticed that the description was showing up, I have optimized everypage on my website. I just looked and all the second pages that are being listed are now just showing what I have on my website. I guess I did a better job then I knew. Sorry I got some peoples hopes up. I can't show any examples of the description anymore.
