Is this considered hidden text?

Single line message box with keywords stuffed inside

A site that is beating mine is using a single line message box, which appears to be full of legal stuff that no one reads (and no one wants to spend the time scrolling through all those lines only reading one line at a time).

Then after you scroll down to the bottom you see it is stuffed with a ton of keywords.

Is this considered hidden text even though it is not really hidden?

If I report it to Google, what box do I check under "Type of problem"?

Hidden text, and then explain in the message box provided a little more of the problem.

Not sure if that text is read though when the Googlebot comes a calling.

Hidden text means just that!

If you can see it, it's not hidden.

If you can't see it, it's hidden.

Reporting a site that is ugly because of the way they have laid out the content is a futile effort.

Chances are, it is well optimized for the phrase your searching on and you will just have to out optimize them!

Well it is a spam attempt, if it is stuffed with keywords at the bottom of a text field if it is hidden or not, then it is still a spammy page.

It simply boggles my mind to see all the trouble some people will go thru just to outbeat a competitor by one line in the serps

What if that one line is from #11 to #10. That is a whole page of movement.

I agree with mrguy - this is not hidden text. If someone wants to make his site look spammy and amateurish in return for a possible marginal improvement in SE rankings, that's his problem.

Ageed that keyword stuffing is spamming!

But the question was is it hidden text. No it is not hidden text because you can see it.

Will Google take action against a poorly designed site that is stuffed with VISIBLE text?

Unless it trips their algo filter, I doubt it.

I would classify it as 'misleading or repeated words', but would have to see it first...
