The main reason I started this post, was hopefully to understand both sides of the issue.

My real need for WPG is the Page Critic, Reporter and Submission Tools, just to get me started.

After this is started for a new site, I plan to never need the submission tools.

In the use of the Reporter Function 2 times a week can not be a bad frequency can it?

I am not going to do mass queries of any kind.

I do have a lot of respect for google and other se.

I am not a SEM by profession, I am a web developer, who wants to help get high rankings for a new web site for my company.

It is nice to hear everyones thoughts, but I'd really love to get both sides, and either create a better product or service or a better mutual understanding.

But a lot of the abuse problems with WPG, are really problems with the users of WPG not with the software.

There is nothing on this earth that can prevent idiots from doing idiotic things.

So we have to take responsibility for our own actions..

Anyways that's my two cents.

Here is a quote straight from Google Guidlines concerning WPG:

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.

Use this product with caution.

Seems to me that google doesnt have a problem with looking for results... they have a problem with flooding checks for results.

Thats a matter of time between clicks, not # of clicks.

Although we are used to instant everything, especially us web people, wouldn't it be ok to space out the requests, let it run for 20 minutes and have the same results, without angering whoever you fear angering by flooding them?

The API seems the best way to go... wish i wasn't trapped in the presentation layer :)
