If you're thinking that one link from a PR9 page will lift a PR6 to a PR7...eh.

The consensus is that the PR scale is logorithmic, kind of along the lines of the hurricane scale (class 7 is ten times as powerful as class 6 which is ten times as powerful as class 5).

In Google's case the consensus is that the base is somewhere around 6 as opposed to 10 (PR7 is 6 times a difficult as PR6 which is 6 times as difficult as PR5).

Discounting the dilution of passed PR for over 100 liks from a PR 9 page, the higher you go in PR the more links you need. Whether they are a *big* bunch of average links or a good-sized bunch of quality links...it all depends. Yahoo is PR 10 with 661,000 links. Assuming it's a mixed bag of PR then a PR9 would take 100,000 links, PR8 about 16,000, etc.

And if you add link dilution in then basically that PR9 *?.85? dampening factor / 100 links isn't going to pass on a heck of a lot of PR.

But it all adds up in the end.

Almost certainly yes. PR9's can spit out PR7's in their sleep.
