will PRs changed last update affect the next

or are all PR changes done before the serps are changed

I've noticed a lot inbound links have lost PR. Since it seems to me PR doesn't settle in until near the end of the update I'm not clear if those PR changes affected this update or could we expect changes in serps next update based on PR changes this update.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Anne,

...or could we expect changes in serps next update based on PR changes this update.

If all your backlinks lost some PR then your competition's also probably lost some PR.

Not much you can do about your backlink PR dropping except to get more links. ;)

Anyways, I'd expect the lower PR's to kick in this upcoming update - IF it factors at all. Meaning, if all related sites to you fell a bit in PR, then it should even out.

So would I be right to think there is a time lag, that this last updates deflated PRs will affect the next update?

I agree since it's across the board it may not make much difference. What got me curious was that some of the pages ahead of mine on a key keyword had dropped down to PR4 while I kept my PR6. Here's hoping that will help me next update. But then who knows so many factors are in play.

Well the last update was rather interesting in terms of PageRank because there was almost a Google wide PR drop. Obviously, something was tweaked in the algo. But, who knows what will be tweaked this update.

Your current PR affects your current SERPs. With the next update it will recalculate the PR and that new PR will be used to create the SERPs after that update.

And...actually, I went from PR3 to PR 5 on main page and adopted PR4 sub pages with some PR3's.

Yeah- I think it's just

a) a lot of factors and
b) Google plays with how they weigh those factors

So, ya just need to wait until next update. ;)

Given G's update history last 3 mos nobody knows when that will be. I wouldn't even want to guess.
