Potential Strategy to Lose Google Penalty

Using a 301 to try to salvage links from a penalized domain

I have a penalized site, about 4 months now, sometimes seems to be recovering, sometimes seems like it never will. For example, I have 1600 incoming links that show up in link:www.example.com on Google, with maybe 5 of them 7s, about 25 6s, etc. My site currently has PR4. It's better than the zero before, but we should be close to a 7 now.

Does it sound like a decent recovery strategy to 301 redirect to another domain name to preserve the links, or would the penalty come along? Other options include waiting for a full recovery (possible?) or starting over completely.

By the way, our penalty was from the SearchKing thing I'm pretty sure-- that's when it happened, and we haven't done anything else even slightly shady.

Morgan, take your site and make absolutely sure that it's clean.

you may have been hit with two timed penalties and one has been lifted the searchking thing I think was a six month -Pr penalty ( but I could be wrong on that)

You could wait and see but I would drop google a line explaining what you think has happen and how you have corrected the problem also mention your WebmasterWorld nick.

Thanks for your input. We'll probably just wait because we've already waited this long and it seems to be improving, plus we're a little skittish about trying anything odd anymore. I'll email Google too. We're still top 5 for our 2 word phrase on ATW, Inktomi, and AV, but Google we're like 85. Thanks again.

I may suggest writing to [e-mail] regarding to "reinclusion request". Say that you are member of WebmasterWorld, and if you know something about you penalty, you have to say that you delete all bad things on your site. Be as polite as you can.
