If, say, a 20 page site links every page to my home page, so far as received PR is concerned does it count as 20 individual hits or just one.

Every page counts, i.e. is transferring PR to your home page. However, as long as these pages have no additional incoming (external) links, the increase of PR for your home page for more than two pages is small.

I would say, it counts as 20 links. But there seems to be a limit. If you look at the bottom of this page, you can see a link to BestBBS. Some pages of this site have a PR7 (at this moment I've got a problem with my toolbar, so I cannot check it now, but that is what it was some weeks ago), lots of PR6 or lower. In total showing more than 10,000 back links. So you would say, that site of only 1 page will have at least a PR6. But it is much lower.

That is an interesting question.. btw, Bestbbs.com only shows as 5/10 for me, which seems quite low.

Sorry, I thought he was asking about internal links ...

If links are coming from one external site, I agree with takagi. The low PR of BestBBS could be also caused by the fact that the links are inside some template.

In total 10,000 back links show up. Those are links found by Google on pages with PR4 or higher.
