Here's some other things Google can ban to fight spam

<a>'s the innerHTML can be changed with JS, so the HTML page can have loads of keywords, then get replaced by "widget" onload.
<a href 's........ditto
<p>'s............ditto
<h1,2,3>'s .............ditto
<div>'s.............ditto

shall I go on...........

They could ban innerHTML I suppose.

Then there's overflow:hidden, and overflow-x:hidden, or are they already banned?

And there must be loads more ways of doing things......

I don't use spam, but I can think of a few ways to apply it.

I would say that those percentages are a tad low. Especially the pirated software one. But, that's what happens when you let professors and students run a network.

What makes me mad is seeing that the links are in hidden text so they KNOW they are doing something wrong or why would they hide them. When it clearly violates the universities TOS.

I just wish that GoogleGuy could provide me with a place to report this that actually took some action.

The spam report form on the Google website has done nothing.

Meanwhile, my legit site is the one getting penalized…

If anyone knows of a "back-door" at Google to report this, could you please sticky me?

I need help!

That's the problem with a form on the web.

It can be flooded with "non-spam" spam reports. Spamming the spam report tool thus bogging down the people analyzing the spam reports thus making it seem like Google isn't making good on their promises. All it takes is a few people to write to Google and ask them to analyze and improve this process.

Hidden links.

Perhaps someone has dynamic links they wish to appear onmouseover, like some expanding menu's I have seen.

Or maybe dynamic text that has a link in it, again to be made visible onevent, with which all is to be done client side. Some people, myself included, prefer JS than server side programming as it works better offline. I don't want the people that view my site offline to be constantly asked to go online.

Say someone has a picture of a complicated widget that needs mouseover explanations, and they decide it would be best to deliver the text content as close to the picture as possible, detailed descriptions appearing onmouseover.
Whats the best way of going about it?

Not all infomation can be put in the way Google prefers it, especially when trying to give detailed descriptions close to a picture or object (animated drummer in my case)

markdidj:

I understand completely what you are referring to, and that is legitimate use, but what I have been discussing is clearly the use of hidden links for deception to gain a higher than deserved PR ranking.

There is a legitimate uses for a lot of thing’s that can be labeled spam. Unforgivably for every one you see that is legitimate, there are 100 that are used for deception and spam.

When there's so many sites that have not been banned when its obvious they are using spam, I wonder if it's because they haven't joined this forum? My site survived the algo's for a while. I came here, argued my point and the next month I was dropped from Google.

Maybe you should just invite them to this forum.......

Remember there are rules and their rules. Google days are numbered according to their very own spam agent, who happens to reside at guess which uni.
