Some (mayby all) of my unindexed pages are showing a pr1.
I am a little concerned as some of my unidexed pages are admin pages.
Why is this?

With pages not in the index, Google will guess an inherited PR based on the PR of your root.

As BGumble suggests, the PR you see with the toolbar is not the 'real' PageRank. If your site's homepage is indexed and has PR, then every page on your site (indexed or not) will return an estimated PR value on the toolbar.

this is what happens here at WebmasterWorld. As soon as you make a new topic, and you view it, it has a page rank. But there is no way that Google indexes it as _soon_ as it is posted - it is as BGumble & pixel_juice say, a "guessed" value.

The classical example of this is Geocities home pages. I just started a new Geocities web site, a couple of low value backlinks, and the toolbar claims that it has a PR of 6 LOL! By the next crawl, when Google finds these links, it will be somewhere between 1 and 2.

Maybe something to do with a change in the algo. I have had a geocities page for 6 months which has never been in Google. It has always shown a guessed page rank of 7 but is showing a guessed 6 after this update.
